Tea cosies and tomatoes

Esther has knitted us this magnificent tea cosy. Thank you Esther!

Just in time too with these surprise early Autumn rain squals! Complete contrast to the golden stillness of last week’s early September days. The long summer days are melting away and now we can begin to feel the chill in the air again. The leaves have already started their changing. The sweet peas have faded and set seed. All around the PLOT we are beginning to see a completion, the end of a cycle as a new part of the circle begins, bringing a new shape to our days.

How about that tomato…?! It’s a Black Russian — a Heritage variety — and a beauty! What may not come across in this photo — because the tea pot is an extra large one too — is the triumphant tomatoey scale of it!
